Mr. Sarmasti has been a member of the firm since 2004. During the past 16-plus years, he has represented the firm’s clients in a wide range of matters involving various legal issues. By way of example, Mr. Sarmasti’s cases and matters have included:
- Defending and prosecuting cases by or against various healthcare carriers including but not limited to Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey; Aetna Life Insurance Company; Aetna Health Inc.; CIGNA Corporation; CIGNA Health and Life Insurance Company; Connecticut General Life Insurance Company; Optum Inc.; Oxford Health Plan entities; UnitedHealth Group Inc.; UnitedHealthcare Services Inc., and United Behavioral Health
- Prosecuting cases on behalf of a national receivables company against healthcare providers that were operating offices with or on behalf of Russian individuals involved in organized crime
- Arbitrating and litigating partnership and shareholder disputes
- A case relating to the sale of a Ferrari involving one of FBI’s “Most Wanted,” Afzal Bobby Khan
- Defend providers against claims involving allegations relating to Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments

Mr. Sarmasti is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of New Jersey and New York.
Prior to establishing the firm, Mr. Sarmasti was a manager in the Mergers & Acquisitions group at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, having managed various tax aspects of multi-million and multi-billion-dollar transactions. Mr. Sarmasti received his BA from New York University in 1991, his MS in Taxation from Fordham University Graduate School of Business, Lincoln Center in 1993, and J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1998.
